Lawyer Timur Idalov brutally detained in Moscow

A lawyer from Chechnya, a native of Chechnya, Timur Idalov, was detained by the FSB in the capital. Criminal proceedings were instituted against the man for threatening to use violence against a public official (article 318, paragraph 1, CC). He was allegedly threatened by the prosecutor at the Nikulinsky District Court in Moscow, demanding that the restraining measure be reduced.

Idalov was arrested as a dangerous criminal by a visit to the FSB Special Forces apartment, in the presence of his family, using force and special means.

Earlier, the lawyer cooperated with the projects «For Human Rights» and «In defense of the rights of prisoners recognized by foreign agents». He also represented the former governor of the Khabarovsk Krai, Sergei Furgala, one of the accused in the murder of Ibrahim Eljarkiev, former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia.

Timur Idalov served in the Interior Ministry in Chechnya until 1993. Later he received a sentence for kidnapping. The sentence was later overturned by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation for rehabilitative reasons.
