The new Constitution of Armenia will focus on human rights
The future Constitution of Armenia will focus on human rights, including socio-economic ones. This was stated by the Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan at a meeting of the Parliamentary Partnership Committee with the European Union.

She did not rule out that the reference to the Declaration of Independence, which mentions the unification of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, may be removed from the preamble of the Constitution.

A referendum on the adoption of a new Constitution of Armenia may be held after the parliamentary elections. This was recently reported by the country's government. The parliamentary elections are scheduled for June 2026.

The Azerbaijani authorities have repeatedly stated that in order to sign a peace agreement, Armenia must amend its Constitution in order to eliminate the territorial claims it has there, in particular, regarding Nagorno-Karabakh.
