The number of crimes has increased in North Ossetia, the Karachay-Cherkess Republic and Chechnya
The number of crimes registered in the first nine months of this year is higher than the figure for the same period in 2023 in three regions of the North Caucasus Federal District.
 
The most pronounced dynamics, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, were recorded in North Ossetia - from 6.5 thousand to 8 thousand crimes. In the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, the figure increased from 3.3 thousand to 3.8 thousand.
 
In Chechnya, the number of registered crimes this year amounted to almost 2 thousand, while from January to September last year there were 1.8 thousand.
 
In 2023, three republics of the North Caucasus Federal District were among the leaders of the subjects of the Russian Federation in terms of the lowest crime rate. The first line was taken by Chechnya, where 14.6 crimes were registered per 10 thousand residents. It was followed in the list by Ingushetia (40.8) and Dagestan (43.7).
 
Recently, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee reported that 23 terrorist crimes were prevented in the North Caucasus Federal District in 2024, and five militant cells were uncovered.
