Teenagers detained in North Ossetia on suspicion of preparing terrorist attacks

The FSB announced the detention of two 15-year-old teenagers in North Ossetia suspected of preparing an attack on law enforcement officers. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against them under articles on preparing a terrorist attack and undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities.

According to investigators, since June 2024, the young people, who adhere to the views of an organization banned in the Russian Federation, have been learning terrorist activities through specialized literature and materials distributed in closed online channels. In May 2025, they allegedly purchased components for creating a homemade explosive device in the city of Mozdok and stored them at home with the aim of committing a terrorist attack against law enforcement officers.

The FSB reports that during searches of the teenagers' homes, components for making homemade explosives, instructions for assembling an IED, and correspondence with representatives of an international terrorist organization abroad, in which plans for terrorist attacks in Russia were discussed, were found.

Security officials also claim that Ukrainian special services are actively using social networks and messengers to recruit young people, including minors, into the ranks of terrorist organizations.
