In the United States, the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a peace declaration

Under the mediation of US President Donald Trump, a meeting was held between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. As a result, a peace declaration was signed. Trump expressed hope for long-term reconciliation between the countries, noting that they had been in a state of conflict for 35 years.

During the meeting, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to resume diplomatic relations and an indefinite cessation of hostilities. As a token of gratitude, Aliyev announced his intention to nominate Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, emphasizing his role in achieving peace between Yerevan and Baku.

“For more than 35 years, Armenia and Azerbaijan have been at war, resulting in great suffering for both countries. And today, we are seeking peace,” Trump emphasized.

The United States plans to cooperate with Armenia in developing a transit corridor connecting it with Azerbaijan. It is reported that the cooperation agreement in this area may be concluded for a period of up to 99 years. According to its terms, the section of the Zangezur corridor passing through Armenia will be transferred to an American company and will be called the "Trump Path". The American leader said that the United States is lifting all restrictions on military cooperation with Azerbaijan, temporarily suspending Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act. Aliyev responded by thanking the American leader for this step and mediation in the peace settlement.

Billionaire and former Nagorno-Karabakh state minister Ruben Vardanyan, sentenced in Baku to 20 years in prison, rejected the legal force of the ruling and dropped his appeal. His family explained that this decision stemmed from the fact that, in their view, the trial was a "staged performance" rather than a proper trial: the hearings were held behind closed doors, without access to independent observers, and the prosecution's motions were ignored. The full text of the verdict was also not released.
