Three regions of the North Caucasus have the lowest crime rates
Chechnya, Ingushetia and Dagestan had the lowest crime rates last year. This follows from the rating published by the RIA Novosti agency.
 
In 2024, only 17 crimes per 10,000 residents were detected in Chechnya. This number has increased by 15.6% compared to last year. The second and third lines of the rating are occupied by Ingushetia (37 crimes) and Dagestan (43). The average crime rate in the Russian Federation was 131 cases per 10,000 people.
 
Kabardino-Balkaria is in 4th place (76), Stavropol Krai is in 15th (107.2), Karachay-Cherkessia is in 17th (107.9), North Ossetia is in 54th (154.4).
 
The highest crime rate was recorded in Karelia, the Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the Altai Republic (215, 208 and 203 crimes, respectively). In the country as a whole, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, over 1.9 million crimes were registered in 2024, which is 1.8% less than in 2023.
