The inaugural session of the ninth convocation of Armenia’s National Assembly took place in Yerevan. The new parliament began its work with a political protest: during the swearing-in ceremony, opposition representatives refused to stand or recite the oath, whereas deputies from the ruling party stood while doing so. That same day, Nikol Pashinyan’s government resigned, in accordance with the Constitution.
A serviceman from Kabardino-Balkaria was sentenced to two years for deserting his unit
The Nalchik Garrison Military Court found Alim Shkakhov, a serviceman from Kabardino-Balkaria, guilty of evading military service during mobilization.
According to the court, on January 28, Shkakhov failed to report to his military unit in Stavropol without a valid excuse. It was only on February 25 that police officers located him at his residence in the village of Malka.
Shkakhov admitted his guilt. The court sentenced him to two years in a general regime penal colony. The sentence has not yet entered into force and can be appealed.
