"Cleansings" of Dyshne-Vedeno and bomb attacks on the village, detentions in the village of Pervomaiskaya

August 6, 2001

From 6 to 9 August, aviation bombed the village of Dyshne-Vedeno. At the same time, “cleansing operations” took place in the village every day, as a result of which ten people were detained: seven from Umaeva Street, three from other places. Among them were 38-year-old Tsetsi Chagaev and 70-year-old Nasir Sediev. According to fellow villagers, the bodies of two of the detainees - the father and son of the Malsagovs - were found blown up near the Petropavlovskaya station. They were identified by part of a driver's license found on one of them. The remains of another person were also found there, but Memorial Human Rights Center does not know who it was. The rest of the detainees were released; known to have been beaten and tortured.

Like the others, Nasir Sediev was then released, but before his death in the spring of 2007, he was detained several times by members of the Russian law enforcement agencies. The reason for this is that he was married to Shamil Basayev's aunt.
