The lawyer who defended Crimean Tatar political prisoners may be deprived of his license

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Crimea has asked to revoke the license to practice law of lawyer Alexey Ladin. If the Tyumen Regional Chamber, where he is registered, cooperates, the lawyer will not be able to continue his professional activities.

The day before, the Supreme Court of Crimea upheld the decision of the Kyiv District Court of Simferopol on the arrest of Alexey Ladin. On October 13, after searches in his apartment, two reports were drawn up against him: under articles about displaying prohibited symbols and “discrediting” the army. He was sentenced to 15 days of arrest and a fine of 45 thousand rubles.

Lawyer Emil Curbedino believes that his colleague is being persecuted for his professional activities. The defense intends to appeal to the cassation court.

Alexey Ladin is a lawyer for many Crimean political prisoners, in particular Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians accused of terrorism and extremism.
