Dagestan ranks third among the regions of the Russian Federation in terms of the number of wanted citizens who are accused in criminal cases. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, there were 3,062 of them in the republic in January-September.

Viskhan Matsuev, married to the eldest daughter of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, has become vice-president of the Akhmat football club. He was appointed to this post by Kadyrov's eldest son, Sports Minister Akhmat Kadyrov. Matsuev is also deputy chairman of the government and minister of agriculture of the republic.
