During the annual "Year in Review" press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin, responding to a question about support for young families, noted the tradition of early marriages in the North Caucasus. He said he believed this was "right" and suggested "following their example," citing Ramzan Kadyrov's large family.
After the start of the war in Ukraine and subsequent mobilization, almost 700 thousand people emigrated from the Russian Federation. According to The Bell, the largest number of Russians left for Armenia – 110 thousand.
The next places in terms of the number of emigrants from the Russian Federation are occupied by Kazakhstan (80 thousand), Israel (80 thousand), Georgia (74 thousand), USA (48 thousand), Germany (36 thousand). 30 thousand Russians went to Serbia, 28 thousand to Turkey, 19 thousand to South Korea, 18 thousand to Latvia, 16 thousand to Spain. Many applied for residence permits, long-term visas or asylum.
Not all countries provided data on emigrants from the Russian Federation. Thus, Thailand and Indonesia did not respond to requests. In addition, not all countries have published data for 2023 – take Portugal for example.
