Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev missed the informal CIS summit in St. Petersburg due to a busy work schedule. Aliyev's administration also noted that his absence from the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on December 21 was due to Azerbaijan not being a member of the organization.
The EU intends to support the Armenian armed forces to strengthen its capabilities. This was stated by the head of the EU delegation to Armenia, Vasilis Maragos, during parliamentary hearings on the topic “New prospects and challenges for Armenia’s European integration.”
“We are talking about the framework of the European Peace Mechanism. The EU remains fully committed to stabilizing and resolving the situation in the region, including the meetings organized by the President of the European Council,” Maragos said.
46% of the Armenian population surveyed believes that the most suitable country for purchasing weapons is France. In second place is India (23.2%), in third is the Russian Federation (21.9%). Such data was recently provided by the research company Gallup.
Secretary of the country's Security Council Armen Grigoryan reported that in 2020, 96% of Yerevan's military-technical cooperation was with the Russian Federation, and since 2021, Russia's share has collapsed to 10%.
Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that his country has no choice but to move towards Europe. He also repeatedly criticized the military-political bloc CSTO, which is under Russian influence, and announced the suspension of Armenia’s membership in it.
