The head of North Ossetia traveled to the Kremlin to receive a new term

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the head of North Ossetia, Sergei Menyailo, in the Kremlin. Menyailo reported to the president on 37 support measures currently in place in the republic for military personnel and their families.

Among the most important is the program for the construction of individual residential homes, which will allow families of SVO participants to improve their housing conditions on preferential terms.

"The most important support measure is what I reported to you—the housing construction program. There are 967 people on the waiting list, 800 of whom are family members of fallen servicemen who participated in the special military operation—those eligible for it," Menyailo reported.

The head of the republic also informed the president of the ongoing efforts to search for missing servicemen in the "special operation" zone. According to him, these are primarily soldiers of the 58th Army, and the whereabouts of 184 people have been determined so far.

During the conversation, Vladimir Putin also inquired about the state of affairs in the republic's agricultural sector. Sergei Menyailo assured that, despite the delay in the sowing campaign caused by heavy rainfall, the expected harvest would be comparable to last year's.

The last meeting between Putin and Menyailo took place on February 11, during which they discussed the region's socioeconomic development and support measures for SVO members and their families.

Sergei Menyailo's term as head of North Ossetia expires in 2026. A vote on the appointment of a new leader will be held in the local parliament this September.

According to Kommersant, Sergei Menyailo was one of the last regional leaders running for a new term to receive a personal audience with Vladimir Putin this year. Such receptions in the Kremlin are usually held in the spring, shortly before the start of the election campaign. Governors, as the publication notes, use them to declare their readiness to continue their work, and the president, in return, publicly wishes them success. Therefore, the very fact of such a meeting is often perceived as Moscow's "blessing" for the next term.
