During a live Q&A broadcast by the Grozny State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov announced his willingness to run for reelection in 2026. He emphasized that he would only participate in the elections if he received an offer from President Vladimir Putin and popular support.
Kadyrov noted that he is somewhat tired of his current position and believes that "new forces" should replace him.
"I will run if the president offers it and the people support it. But if you ask me, I'm fed up with this government and serving the people. I think we need new forces, new people, more interesting ones," he stated.
In 2021, Kadyrov expressed doubts about running in the elections, but later agreed after receiving support from the Congress of the Peoples of Chechnya and an offer from President Putin.
