Master of Islamic Sciences, Crimean Tatar Vadim Bektemirov, sentenced to 11 years in prison, was transferred to a Russian prison in Yelets (Lipetsk region). The penitentiary is located more than 1,300 kilometers from Crimea.
Vadim Bektemirov is a Master in Islamic Studies at the Faculty of Arabic Literature and Humanities. Prior to his arrest, he made dua in support of the families of political prisoners, organized transfers to arrested Crimean Tatars, and attended court hearings on politically motivated cases.
Bektemirov was accused of participating in the activities of the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is banned in Russia. On the territory of Ukraine and most countries of the world, the organization operates without restrictions at the level of national legislation.
