The Crimean Tatar community was fined for possessing prohibited literature

The Supreme Court of Crimea approved a fine of 100 thousand rubles to the independent Muslim community “Eski Kyrym” for storing literature in the Az-Zubeir mosque.

According to investigators, the community kept books from the collected works of Said Nursi “Risale-i Nur” “Munajat (Prayer). The Third Ray”, as well as Takiuddin an-Nabhani’s book “The System of Islam”. These publications were included in the Federal List of Extremist Materials.

Chairman of Eski Kyrym Idris Yurdamov and lawyer Rustem Kyamilev called the case fabricated. According to them, they do not know how these books appeared in the mosque.

“This latest persecution of Eski Kyrym was done in order to drive the religious community out of the mosque,” said Rustem Kyamilev.

Previously, the judge refused to fine the imam of “Eski Kyrym” Izet Sayfullin under the article on “illegal missionary”. The report was returned to the police. According to the judge, the document contains no information that Saifullin was engaged in missionary activities.

Many Crimean Tatars are considered unreliable by Russian authorities. They support Ukraine and criticize the Russian authorities. Criminal cases are being initiated en masse against Crimean Tatars for membership in the Hizb ut-Tahrir party, which is recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia.
