The Russian Mufti called the reconciliation between Kadyrov and Kerimov "an example of unity and brotherhood"

On the eve of Ramadan, Russia's Chief Mufti, Ravil Gainutdin, praised the reconciliation between Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov and billionaire Senator Suleiman Kerimov of Dagestan, which took place in the Kremlin at the invitation of Vladimir Putin.

"Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin has declared 2026 the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, and we are grateful to the head of our state for this decision. We can proudly say that the first people in our Russian society to set an example of unity and brotherhood at a high level were representatives of our Muslim ummah. This was accomplished by two worthy sons of our Caucasus—our dear brothers Ramzan Akhmatovich Kadyrov and Suleiman Abusaidovich Kerimov," Gainutdin said.

He noted that the meeting took place in the Kremlin with the participation of the Russian president.

As a reminder, in the fall of 2024, Kadyrov accused Kerimov of involvement in an assassination attempt on him, threatening a blood feud. However, in January 2026, after a meeting in Moscow, the head of Chechnya publicly called the senator a brother, emphasizing the brotherhood of the Chechen and Dagestani peoples.

Later, Novaya Gazeta Evropa reported that reconciliation with Kadyrov cost Kerimov $1.8 billion. This is the amount the senator's associates paid to Kadyrov's people.
