February 23, 1944, marked a dark date in the history of two peoples of the North Caucasus: on the orders of Joseph Stalin, the total deportation of the Chechens and Ingush began. Half a million people were forcibly uprooted from their homes and sent into exile in Central Asia and Siberia.
Citizens of Ingushetia complained about the refusal to speak at the anniversary of the deportation.
Ingush elders reported that on 23 February, they were prevented from speaking at a commemorative rally in Nazran on the 79th anniversary of the deportation of the Wainahs.
Head of the liquidated Supreme Court of Ingushetia Council of teips Musa Khamkhoyev said that the commemorative action with the participation of the head of the republic Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov lasted only half an hour. The Council of the Teips was not given a word, nor did the Karachai and Balkars who came to the rally. Subsequently, relatives of the Minister for Foreign Relations and National Policy visited Hamhoev, demanded that the charges be dropped and summoned the elder to the Sharia court.
