Since 2023, the Azerbaijani authorities have intensified repression against human rights defenders, lawyers, journalists, opposition politicians, activists and scientists. Torture and ill-treatment are widespread in places of detention. Tbilisi residents have begun to paint "Russian Dream" slogans on the country's ruling party's election banners. 30 Ukrainian children affected by the war have arrived in Azerbaijan for rehabilitation.
