The US President again boasted about his contribution to ending the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan

US President Donald Trump claims that it was his efforts that led to the end of the Karabakh conflict. He stated that he is proud to have prevented the deaths of millions of people.

Trump mentioned a phone call with President Putin, in which the latter allegedly praised the US role in resolving the conflict. He also spoke about a meeting between representatives of Armenia and Azerbaijan at the White House, which, in his opinion, ended in reconciliation.

"Representatives of the two countries arrived at the White House. At first, they kept their distance, but gradually grew closer and closer. An hour later, they were already hugging each other as a sign of peace. It was truly amazing," the US President said.

Today, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan expressed Yerevan's readiness to consult with Baku on the signing of a peace treaty. He emphasized the importance of moving toward the practical implementation of the peace process, including the institutionalization and ratification of the agreement. Mirzoyan also noted that important issues, such as border demarcation and humanitarian issues, remain unresolved.

As a reminder, in August, a meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took place in Washington, D.C., organized by Donald Trump. A peace agreement was initialed during the meeting. Both countries are currently working to normalize relations and restore transport links, including opening their borders.

Ruben Vardanyan Drops Appeal Against 20-Year Sentence in Azerbaijan
25 February 2026

Billionaire and former Nagorno-Karabakh state minister Ruben Vardanyan, sentenced in Baku to 20 years in prison, rejected the legal force of the ruling and dropped his appeal. His family explained that this decision stemmed from the fact that, in their view, the trial was a "staged performance" rather than a proper trial: the hearings were held behind closed doors, without access to independent observers, and the prosecution's motions were ignored. The full text of the verdict was also not released.
