Assets seized again from the "energy king" of the Caucasus

Moscow's Gagarinsky District Court upheld the Prosecutor General's Office's claim, forfeiting property associated with Magomed Kaitov, the former head of JSC MRSK North Caucasus.

According to investigators, between 2019 and 2024, companies controlled by Kaitov conducted fictitious transactions, thereby siphoning off 337 million rubles under the guise of construction and installation work and the procurement of equipment for multifunctional network towers in the Stavropol Krai. It is alleged that the land plots allocated for the towers were illegally seized from municipal ownership, and the facilities themselves were subsequently leased.

The court ordered the transfer of shares in the authorized capitals of PKI LLC and Rusmarket LLC, as well as telecommunications facilities and the land plots on which they are located, to the state. In addition, 337 million rubles were recovered from Kaitov and his partners.

This is the second anti-corruption lawsuit against Kaitov: in July 2025, the Cheremushkinsky District Court of Moscow recovered 14.3 billion rubles in assets for illegal enrichment between 2006 and 2011, when he served as head of MRSK. At that time, the defendant, who is currently abroad, was accused of receiving 2.9 billion rubles under the guise of installing metering devices and 1.2 billion rubles through fictitious contracts with affiliated companies. These funds were allegedly used to create a personal holding company that monopolized the Stavropol Krai power grid. The shares of these companies were also transferred to the state.
