Azerbaijan celebrates Novruz holiday

In connection with the beginning of Novruz, the days from March 20 to March 26 inclusive in Azerbaijan have been declared non-working.

President of the country Ilham Aliyev congratulated the citizens: “This is the fourth time I have lit a festive bonfire on the liberated Karabakh land. In 2021, a festive bonfire was lit in Shusha, in 2022 in Sugovushan, last year in the village of Talysh, and this time in the city of Khankendi. This is great happiness."

Novruz, or Spring Festival, falls on March 20-21. It is celebrated as the transition from winter to spring, which means the awakening of the earth, its readiness to give its fruits. According to the Turkic peoples, who consider the eternal alternation of day and night as part of the struggle between Good and Evil, the arrival of spring and the lengthening of days are the embodiment of the victory of Good over Evil.
