A sports complex named after Adam Kadyrov has opened in Chechnya

The Dustum sports complex, named after 17-year-old Adam Kadyrov, the son of the regional governor, has opened in the village of Gvardeyskoye in Chechnya's Nadterechny District.

The ceremony was attended by Adam Kadyrov himself, municipal head Khamzat Khasanov, Chechen Youth Minister Ramzan Vismuradov, and UFC champion Khamzat Chimayev, the founder of the project. Adam Kadyrov was also awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of the Nadterechny District."

Earlier, media outlets noted that Adam Kadyrov's bulletproof vest bears his call sign, "Dostum." According to the elder Kadyrov, he was also given this call sign in his youth. "Dostum" means "friends" in Dari [the language of the Afghan Tajik people].

His family explained that this decision stemmed from the fact that, in their view, the trial was a "staged performance" rather than a proper trial: the hearings were held behind closed doors, without access to independent observers, and the prosecution's motions were ignored. The full text of the verdict was also not released.
