A plane crash in Dagestan that killed five people is under investigation

The Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR) is considering pilot error as the primary cause of the Ka-226 helicopter crash in Dagestan, which killed five people. This conclusion was reached after a preliminary analysis of the flight data recorder recovered from the crash site.

According to investigators, on November 7, 2025, near the village of Achisu in the Karabudakhkent district, not far from the Solnechny Bereg recreation center, a Ka-226 helicopter en route from Kizlyar to Izberbash crashed. There were a pilot and six passengers on board. Five people died in the tragedy, one is in intensive care, and the condition of another has been stabilized.

As part of the investigation, aviation technical and chemical forensics have been ordered, and other necessary procedural actions are being taken to establish the full circumstances and causes of the crash.

Among the dead were the deputy general director for construction and transport support of the Kizlyar Electromechanical Plant (KEMZ), the chief power engineer, the driver, and the head of the helicopter manufacturing shop.
