The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don, where the trial in the case of journalist Abdulmumin Gadzhiev, accused of financing terrorism, has announced a new expert opinion on the case. Nothing extremist was found again in Hajiyev's publications. Moreover, it was stated in court that the journalist's articles contained calls for the spiritual, intellectual, moral and social development of the inhabitants of Dagestan and all people.
According to experts, the materials presented contain propaganda of the idea of the need for intellectual and spiritual development of the inhabitants of Dagestan, the Islamic way of life as a means of combating spiritual, intellectual and cultural degradation, the revival of a socially prosperous and just society in the republic, as well as the need to unite Muslims to achieve harmony, unity societies around common ideals and aspirations.
The examination once again did not find any traces of terrorism and extremism. The institution for examination was chosen by the court. Earlier, experts confirmed the absence of propaganda of religious intolerance and calls for terrorism in the articles of Abdulmumin Hajiyev.
The accusation against the journalist was based on two components: the transfer of 16,000 rubles to ISIS (banned in the Russian Federation) and propaganda of terrorism in twenty articles. Both theses were not confirmed in court. In addition, none of the witnesses for the prosecution was able to provide incriminating information about Hajiyev. However, he has been under arrest since 2019.
