The case against the alleged members of the Basayev and Khattab detachments was submitted to the court

The investigation of the criminal case against a resident of Chechnya Vakhit Khamzatkhanov and a resident of the Stavropol Territory Takhir Begeldiyev has been completed. They are accused of committing crimes under Part 2 of Art. 209 (participation in a gang), Art. 279 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (armed rebellion) and art. 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (encroachment on the life of military personnel).

According to investigators, in 1999 the defendants joined a "gang" under the general leadership of Shamil Basayev and Khattab. October 4, 1999 in Art. Chervlennaya Shelkovskiy district of Chechnya, the participants committed an armed attack on the military personnel of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. As a result, 15 soldiers were killed and 28 more were injured.

The criminal case against Khamzatkhanov and Begeldiev was sent to the Southern District Military Court.
