53-year-old Mikheil Kavelashvili has been elected president of Georgia, the country's Central Election Commission reports. According to the voting results, he received 224 out of 300 electoral votes.

The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe examined, at the request of the Memorial Human Rights Center, the execution of ECHR judgments in the group of cases "Khashiyev and Akaeva v. Russia". This group includes cases of the enforced disappearance of 668 people in Chechnya in 1999-2017.

A second criminal case has been opened against Zarema Musayeva, who is serving a sentence in a Chechen penal colony-settlement, under Part 2 of Article 321 - on disorganization of the colony's activities. Allegedly, she hit an FSIN officer and tore off his shoulder strap. The woman does not admit her guilt and denies the investigation's version, her lawyer Alexander Savin said.
