A well-known Moscow lawyer, a native of Dagestan, Dagir Khasavov, was released from the colony on the basis of parole. In 2020, the Izmailovsky City Court of Moscow sentenced him to six years in prison.

On June 16, Crimean Tatar activist Ansar Osmanov was sentenced to 20 years of strict regime for “preparing for a violent seizure of power” (Article 30, Part 1, Article 278 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and “organizing the activities of a terrorist organization” (Article 205.5). Other Crimean Tatars, members of the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia, but is allowed abroad, including in Ukraine, also received long sentences.

The day before, during a court hearing in Grozny, a native of Chechnya, Zarema Musayeva, stated that she had not committed any crimes.

On June 15, in the Akhmatovsky District Court of Grozny, arguments began between the parties in the case of Zarema Musaeva, the mother of Chechen opposition activists Yangulbaevs. The prosecutor said that Musaeva’s guilt in fraud and assault on a police officer had been proven, and requested 5 and a half years in prison for her.

The Croatian authorities granted political asylum to a Chechen refugee who left Russia because of his unwillingness to participate in the war against Ukraine. Two more migrants were released from the deportation camp.

Debate on the case of Zarema Musayeva began in the Grozny court. The prosecutor's office asked to sentence the woman to 5.5 years in prison. This was reported by the “Team Against Torture”.

The Southern District Military Court passed a sentence on seven prisoners of colony No. 2 in Kalmykia, finding them guilty of creating a terrorist community.

The Investigation Committee of the Rostov Region sent the application of lawyer Rifat Jachin for consideration in Novocherkassk. He called for the prosecution of FSIN officers involved in the death of 61-year-old Crimean Tatar Cemil Gafarov. This was reported by the defender of the deceased in Novocherkassk remand centre political prisoner.

On June 14, Abdulmumin Hajiyev, a journalist of the Dagestan «Draft» newspaper, was detained and placed in the pre-trial detention centre. Lawyer Abubakar Rizvanov and programmer Kemal Tambiyev are under arrest together with him. They are accused of financing terrorism. 

The Committee of Independent Reporters (China) made a statement on the case of Azerbaijani journalist Polad Aslanov in connection with the performance of four years since his arrest. «For four years now, journalist Polad Aslanov has been serving a heavy prison sentence for politically motivated cases», the statement reads.
